What a representative participant, not a top earner, actually receives.
"Typical" is the standard regulators use when judging earnings claims: if a claim is not what most participants achieve, it must say so. In practice, the median participant in most published statements receives a few hundred dollars a year or less before expenses.
The number to look for in any disclosure is the median for everyone who joined, including those paid nothing.
