Endless chain
A legal term in some US states for a recruitment scheme that cannot sustain itself.
Several US states, including California, prohibit "endless chain" schemes: arrangements where a participant pays for the chance to receive money from later participants, with no limit to the chain. The definition overlaps with pyramid scheme and is used in state enforcement.
